Living on the Colorado high plains in Aurora, Colorado, I get much of my inspiration on my daily walks. Fusing art and science in the well-established tradition of botanical illustration while adding a pinch of contemporary style feeds my passion to express myself artistically but remain dedicated to the science of botanical illustration
Living on the Colorado high plains in Aurora, Colorado, I get much of my inspiration on my daily walks. Fusing art and science in the well-established tradition of botanical illustration while adding a pinch of contemporary style feeds my passion to express myself artistically but remain dedicated to the science of botanical illustration. i want to inspire art lovers to appreciate the beauty of a dried fallen leaf or a yucca pod that has spilled its seeds.
I received my Botanical illustration certificate from the School of Botanical Artists and Illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens in 2012. I have enjoyed being a full time artists since.
After years using watercolor, colored pencils and graphite I discovered printmaking. Most of my current work is Intaglio. I enjoy creating illustrations that I convert to etchings. Often I will add other elements like chine colle' and hand coloring using watercolor or colored pencils.
I like to make a subtle statement with my art by using color palettes of nature. I choose papers that have organic textures with bits of fibers from nature. Each pulled print is hand inked, hand colored and often chine colle' added. This process makes each print a one of a kind.
